Some history:

Yes, LGBTQ Connection started as a group for youth at a youth center. However at the historic first LGBTQ community forum held in October of 2011, the community spoke loud and clear--our community wanted (and needed) to grow its support for older adults as well! (They also encouraged us to work more closely with schools and to establish our offices as hubs of building vibrant, diverse, and inclusive LGBTQ community with, for, and across generations, races, and neighborhoods.)

LGBTQ Connection’s “Monthly Discussion Group for LGBT Older Adults” was born in Spring of 2012 and has been meeting regularly ever since --offering lively discussion on a variety of interesting topics, sharing of life stories and helpful information. The group is for anyone that considers themself a lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender older adult (we don’t even check IDs). After the earthquake in 2014 many group participants exchanged contact information to provide mutual support and to be able to stay connected. In 2019 the group began a monthly walking group in Napa as well.
