Why LGBTQ Best Practices?
Many organizations recognize that there is an urgent need for staff and trained professionals to know how to better care for and serve the LGBTQ+ community. These organizations want to do better and creating inclusive environments but aren’t sure where to begin.
LGBTQ Best Practices training helps fill this gap. Our highly regarded trainings can help your organization foster a culture where staff are better equipped to connect, affirm, respond to and empower LGBTQ+ youth, adults and elders from within the communities they serve.
What to expect
Training curriculum that is co-created with youth and community members through years of feedback and refinement.
Group activities, dialogue & reflection, action planning and a training resource booklet are provided for all participants.
Specific training outcomes and format is co-developed with the hosting organization and customized based on the needs of the audience.
Training can be scaled to any audience type, from those with little knowledge of LGBTQ+ issues to professionals and community members who regularly work with this population.
As a result of attending our training, participants will:
· Have a better understanding of LGBTQ identities
· Have more compassion for LGBTQ people & their experiences
· Be more aware of specific issues that affect the mental health of LGBTQ youth & LGBTQ seniors
· Be more confident in their ability to support LGBTQ people
· Gain knowledge of resource and referral information for LGBTQ people
· Be able to identify specific mental health resources accessible for LGBTQ people
